In 2007, after 17 years at Ford Motors, I handed in my resignation. My parents thought I’d lost my mind.
“Are you crazy? Do you even know what you're doing?"
To be honest, not entirely.
But I knew one thing:
I wanted to own a business. I purchased several businesses and enjoyed the process so much I eventually started my own M&A firm. I was excited to finally control my own destiny.
But what I didn't realize was how much being an entrepreneur would cost.
There was a period of time when dinners were mac and cheese and hot dogs because I had no idea when the next deal would come through.
I was stressed out of my mind.
Thankfully, those days are long behind me.
But every now and then, I look back and ask myself:
“Was the reward worth the risk?”
The answer is always… 100%
Today, I've helped more than 360 business owners achieve over $493 million in business sales.
On paper, I help people buy and sell businesses.
But what I'm really doing is helping people take control of their own destiny. Just like I did.
That's why, even though I don't financially need to work anymore, I still wake up excited to go to work every morning.
Because somewhere, a business owner is about to change the course of their life.
And I get to play a small part in making that happen.
